The RIDE Necessity of School Construction process is a multi-stage application that requires districts to conduct thorough facility assessments toward the creation of an efficient and prudent masterplan. Once reviewed and vetted, the School Building Authority will recommend projects for approval. Approved projects are eligible for State aid through one of three mechanisms: Housing Aid reimbursement, School Construction Bond pay-as-you-go funding, or SBA Capital Fund progress payments.
In May 2023, RI General Assembly enacted Senate Bill 1073 and House Bill 6455, authorizing the Bristol Warren Regional School District to issue not to exceed $200 million in bonds to finance the necessary school construction projects.
